CNG

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is natural gas under pressure which remains clear, and non-corrosive, eco-friendly alternative to gasoline. Made by compressing natural gas (methane) down to less than 1% of its volume, CNG fuel is safer than gasoline and diesel because it is non-toxic and does not contaminate ground .It is also a cheaper, greener, and more efficient alternative to the traditional petrol and diesel fuels for vehicles.

Benefits of CNG :

Environmental Benefits:

It has very low levels of polluting gaseous emissions. Its molecular structure compactness prevents the reactive processes which lead to the formation of Ozone (O3) in the troposphere.

Safety:

In the event of a collision, CNG cylinders are less dangerous than gasoline and diesel tanks because of its size, structure, and location within the vehicle. These cylinders have safety devices which are designed to release the gas if there is a higher than normal pressure or temperature. The ignition temperature of CNG is 600⁰C, which is higher than gasoline (320⁰C) and diesel (285⁰C). CNG is unlikely to auto-ignite on hot surfaces, due to high auto-ignition temperature (540 °C). It has narrow range of flammability (5%-15%), it means that if CNG concentration in the air is below 5% or above 15%, it will not burn.

Economical Benefits:

CNG is "pocket” friendly gas. It is cheaper to any conventional fuel.CNG enhances the mileage of vehicle.

Technical Benefits:

CNG allows greater performance compared to petrol because of very high antiknock power. It has no evaporation leaks and spills of fuel, both during refueling and feeding of the car. Its combustion produces a very low quantity of carbon deposits.

Lower maintenance costs:

The maintenance cost of vehicle will be cut down since there can be longer periods between tune-ups and oil changes.

Another benefit is that in the case of a leak, CNG does not pose any danger of contamination of ground water since the fuel is non-toxic. CNG cars also run quieter than gasoline and diesel vehicles, which results in less noise pollution.
